Dr. Ren is an Assistant Professor at the UM-SJTU Joint Institute, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Prior to that, he received his dual bachelor degrees from both Tongji University in China and Fachhochschule Aachen in Germany. He obtained his master and PhD from Carnegie Mellon University in USA, where he also served as a Post-doc. He co-founded a startup called BITO Robotics and served as the Chief Technology Officer, where he was deeply involved in developing and deploying fleets of mobile robots in factories to transport materials. His research focuses on planning for multiple robots, motion planning, and autonomous systems. His research has led to more than 20 publications in top journals and venues in Robotics and AI such as Science Robotics and IEEE Transaction on Robotics.

任中强博士目前担任上海交通大学密西根学院助理教授，博士生导师；之前在同济大学和德国亚琛应用科技大学获得学士学位，在美国卡耐基梅隆大学获得硕士，博士学位，并进行博士后研究。他曾联合创立上海宾通智能科技有限公司并担任首席技术官，他的研究内容包括多机器人调度，机器人运动规划，自主导航系统等；相关研究已在Science Robotics，IEEE Transaction on Robotics等知名机器人和人工智能学术期刊和会议上发表高水平论文20余篇。
